The company's main asset, operated by PT Freeport Indonesia, is the Grasberg minerals district on the island of New Guinea, which has a single gold reserve and a copper reserve, reputed to be the largest reserves in the world. It operates the Tenke Fungurume development project in the Democratic Republic of Congo, along with various copper mines in North and South America. The company produces molybdenum at the Henderson molybdenum mine in Colorado, which is the largest primary producer of molybdenum in the world. In addition, it smelts and refines copper concentrates in Spain and markets the products through its subsidiary, Atlantic Copper. Founded in 1987 and headquartered in Phoenix, AZ, the company had 2008 revenue of about $17.8 billion and has about 29,300 employees. In February 2009, it raised $750 million in gross proceeds following the completion of an at-the-market offering of common stock.
