Founded in 1915 and headquartered in Cape Town, South Africa, Naspers Limited (JSE: NPN) is a global media company, with principal operations in electronic media (including pay-television, Internet and instant-messaging subscriber platforms and the provision of related technologies) and print media (including the publishing, distribution and printing of magazines, newspapers and books). Most significant operations are in South Africa, where it generates approximately over 70% of revenues, with other operations located in Sub-Saharan Africa, Greece, Cyprus, the Netherlands, the US, Thailand, India and China. The company had 2008 revenue of about $3 billion and employs more than 13,810 people. In August 2008, it disposed of its indirect wholly owned subsidiary, Myriad International Holdings B.V.'s interest in the Greek and Cypriot pay-TV operations to Forthnet SA, a leading Greek telecommunications company, at an enterprise value of about $715.5 million.
