Jan Smith is an executive with a specialty in Human Resources, most particularly in building and scaling teams and organizations. As Senior Vice President of Human Resources and a member of the Executive Team at Eclipsys, she is responsible for all staffing-related issues, from hiring to retention, employee relations, compensation, benefits and other Human Resources activities.
Ms. Smith has extensive international experience, responsible for talent acquisition and management, compensation, employee relations, organization development, channel marketing, corporate communications and events in the Americas, Asia and Europe.
Prior to joining the Eclipsys team, Ms. Smith was Vice President of Human Resources for McAfee/Foundstone, a Mission Viejo, CA-based Internet security software, consulting and training company. Previously, she held a similar role with Telespree Communications, San Francisco, where she was recruited to accelerate growth of a private, start-up telecommunications company producing software that enables secure, on-demand and wireless services.
Ms. Smith held a number of senior leadership roles in the areas of Human Resources, Marketing and Communications with Electronics for Imaging, Inc., Foster City, CA. She was one member of a five-person executive team, and her responsibilities included directing HR and Marketing functions for this technology company with an 80-percent market share. She opened and staffed more than 20 offices in the Americas, Asia and Europe.
Earlier in her career, Ms. Smith held management positions for Human Resources Operations, Training and Outplacement, and Staffing for FMC Corporation, San Jose, CA, a $2-billion multi-national corporation with businesses in defense, agriculture and chemicals.
She holds a Master of Arts in Labor Relations from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bradley University, Peoria, IL.
